Day 5 - Class and ZipLines!

After breakfast, we had a half-day class. We ate lunch, and then spent the afternoon on the ropes course, rock climbing, and zip-lining at Erezt Ayalim. Many of us conquered our fears on the ropes course, and the zip-line was something else! It was amazing to travel between two mountains this way. Afterwards, we had a jeep-ride to take us back to the main camp. Dinner was at the hotel, and after, we had a special guest speaker/singer who, through song, explained to us the significance of the 9 days before Tisha B'Av. It was a pretty exciting tonight in the hotel, as everyone was watching the final game of the World Cup! After that, we went straight to bed!

Day 4 - After Shabbat

Shabbat day was great! In the morning, we visited a local synagogue and participated in services there. After lunch, we had time off to rest in the afternoon. We heard from a guest speaker at Seudah Shlishet, and had had a Carlebach Havdallah service. Then, we went to Ben Yehuda to shop and eat! A great time was had by all!

Day 3 - Preparing for Shabbat

What an amazing day. We prepared for Shabbat first by participating at Hazon Yeshaya Humanitarian Relief. We walked through the Machneh Yehudah shuk and bought treats for shabbat. To get into the Shabbat spirit, we put on a concert and raised money for charity! The people of shuk participated with us as we sang and danced. We all bought lunch at the shuk, then went to the Rose Garden near the Israeli Knesset to relax in the park. We returned to the Old City of Jerusalem for Friday Night services at the Kotel - what an incredible experience! All types of Jews from around the world were there. We sang and danced and welcomed Shabbat in true Jerusalem style! After, we ate in the Old City and had an inspirational meal full of song and laughter.

Day 2

We had a full and fun second day here in sunny Jerusalem! We explored the rooftops and alleyways of the Old City and visited the Western Wall. We wrote a personal prayer on notes and inserted them into the wall. After, we participated in the Tzurim Valley archeological excavation project. We found pottery and mosaic stones close to 2000 years old! Finally, we toured the City of David and walked through the Hezekiah water tunnels. After dinner, we had a short class and have retired for the night. Tomorrow, we look forward to greeting Shabbat at the Western Wall!
